Volunteers Needed - Indian Creek Planting
Join the Conservation District and Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe to plant 1,500 trees and shrubs along Indian Creek, a tributary to the Elwha River that outlets just below the Highway 101 Elwha River bridge. This planting will help restore native vegetation following a restoration project done by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe in the summer of 2022 to install woody debris in Indian Creek. The wood provides natural features salmon need to survive, as well as slowing water velocity and creating pools for salmon for resting, feeding and spawning.
LOCATION: Highway 101 at the junction with Herrick Road in west Port Angeles (specific parking details will be sent prior to the event)
DATE/TIME: February 15 (Wednesday) from 10:00AM to 1:00PM
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Some planting tools will be available for use, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if available.
Volunteers should also plan to bring gloves, raingear, water and snacks.
