The heart of Port Townsend’s Quimper Wildlife Corridor (QWC) includes an area known as “Cappy’s Trails,” a mostly undeveloped, open area with ribbons of trails named for the late William “Cappy” Capriotti, a much-loved local resident. Originally a college thesis developed by Kathleen Mitchell, who recognized the environmental importance of QWC, it also was the genesis of the Land Trust whose work continues to protect land, plot by plot, in the corridor which serves as a gateway for migrating birds, home to many species of reptiles and amphibians, and is the main drainage for the Port Townsend.
