Olympia oysters are the only native oyster on the West Coast. They create habitat, filter water, and play a unique role in the food web. Kilisut Harbor was once home to an abundant Olympia oyster population. Puget Sound Restoration Fund and partners are exploring opportunities to locally restore native oysters, and we want to hear from you!
We are offering the following opportunities to learn about these efforts, ask questions, and share your input: a virtual presentation on May 4 (register here), an in-person community talk and beach walk on May 7 (register here), and/or host a beach walk with a habitat biologist on your tidelands. Find more information here. For questions, contact Monica.
Time: 7-8pm on May 4, Location: Zoom and 11am-1pm on Sunday, May 7, Location: Fort Flagler Historic Hospital
